Quilt Class

Last night at quilt class I learned how to pin a quilt so that the "quilting" process can begin. Tis is a quilt top I made before I started the class. I decided to add additional squares to the quilt I was making in the beginning class. I wanted to learn how to quilt and bind to complete in order to complete the class, so I am using this quilt top. Sheri at The Quilt Cupboard introduced me to the Kwik Klip and what a fantastic tool it is! It helps with closing (and then opening) the safety pins I used to keep the quilt top, batting and backing together.

I created this layout using Jill D-Zines new Fresh collection. She has created a beautiful and Fresh digital element set that I printed out onto paper. I am mostly a paper scrapper who is dabbling in the digital realm. I think it came out pretty good.

Happy Birthday to you

I finished this layout tonight ~ what do you think? I used the Basic Grey Kioshi line and the journalling block is the fancy cut from Jill DZine cut using the SCAL software and my Cricut!

New Layouts

This past weekend I attened the Desert Scrappers Retreat with Kari from Urban Anthology! We had a great time. The event was at a Embassy Suites and I fell in love with the hotel and the area. You know when they talk about a dry heat not being to bad? It was in the 90's all weekend long and it wasn't too bad! (me being inside an air conditioned conference room most of the time might have had something to do with it!)
This first layout was a picture we were able to get of {almost} the entire family. Well the {almost} entire family as it stood on that day!
This is a two page layout from Arianna's 1st set of tennis lessons. The layout was from the new Basic Grey monthly layout program. I am taking the program at the Scrapbook Oasis.
One of the rare pictures I was able to snap of Anthony (and Michelle). That boy is really hard to get pictures of. He is not real happy with his picture, but I love it. This layout was crafted using the Basic Grey monthly kit only this layout was baised on a layout done by Rebecca. Another picture of Anthony and Michelle. This picture was taken at the Red Lobster. You would have thought that this would have been a really quick layout, but what you don't see in this scan is all the pen work. I used a glitter pen over alot of this layout that shows up in person. More Basic Grey patterned papers and a couple of Unity stamps.

Ahh, this is my grandson Dane. Isn't he just the cutest!! The picture was taken by his mom at one of his well baby checks. I am pretty sure he got a shot that day, but not before this photo, cause he still has that cutie pie smile! I still need to get the date from Darleen so that I can add it to the layout. There is some Teresa Collins paper going on here as well as a cutout from the Cricut cartridge .

A two page layout featuring my lovely grandchildren blowing bubbles in the back yard.
You even get a glimpse of that LB, I mean Sarge the LB.
This is the final layout I completed this weekend. Pictures are some that Gino and Brie had taken in Las Vegas. I still need to put a little journalling in the strips, but I need to check with Gino for the correct details.
There are a couple of other layouts I have in the works, but that is just about all I got done for my 3 days away from it all!

Happy Birthday Darleen

Last week was my daughter-in-laws birthday. She is now 1/4 of a century old. I asked her if she wanted cake or pie. She picked ice box pie!
We also had the opportunity to spend some time with her lovely mother and father. I am so glad we were able to spend some time with them. They are such lovely people. I see where Darleen gets her beautiful looks from. While her mom is a beautiful woman on the outside, her true beauty comes from within!

My Saturn Vue

Just turned 99,000 miles! She has been a really good car. Patrick has been really good about keeping the maintance up! Here's to another 99,000 miles! A girl can wish can't she? Seeing that she is the last of a dying bread. It makes me sad that I can't go out an buy a new Saturn. Darn economy!

Sumertime Table Runner

You know how I have been on a sewing kick lately, well I made this really cute watermelon table runner!
And what kind of sewing type person would I be if I didn't have a dress form? I have been jonesing for one for sometime and Kari (without knowing that I wanted one) sent me a picture of these at Home Goods. I had to leave right then to run out to pick one up!!

I have joined the Glee club!

Yep, just call me a new convert to the millions of people watching the Fox Network show entitlled Glee! Here is what Wickapedia has to say about Glee:

"Glee is an American musical comedy-drama television series that
airs on Fox
in the United States. It focuses on a high school show choir called "New Directions", at the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio, and although largely realistic, also employs fantasy elements. The pilot episode of the show was broadcast after
American Idol
on May 19, 2009, and the first season began airing on September 9, 2009. On September 21, 2009, Fox officially gave the series a full-season pick-up. Glee aired its mid-season finale on December 9, 2009 and returned from a four-month hiatus on April 13, 2010, picking up the remaining nine episodes of the season. The spring premiere had an estimated 13.7 million viewers, nearly doubling in followers on its return. It was renewed for a second season which will feature three new cast members. On May 23, 2010, it was announced that Glee was already picked up for a third season."

I blame Brie for this. She bought the 1st season on DVD and asked if I would like to watch it with her. Good thing she left it behind on the next leg of her vacation, because I spent most of Monday watching it. I still have 2 more episodes (plus all the extra stuff on the DVD) to go before she comes back on Thrusday! I think I can squeze it in!!
