Bountiful Valley Farm - Sketch 158

This is one of those layouts that would qualify for the show "No Longer There"!  While Disney's California Adventure is there, Bountiful Valley Farms is not.  It is so much fun to look at how much Arianna has grown.  This picture was taken back in 2006.

This layout is based on Sketch 158 at Let's Capture These Sketches.  Come play along!

Sergeants's Course Graduation

This is a photo of Gino's graduation form Sergeant's Course in 29 Palms this past June.  I did this layout for the School Days Challenge at For The Love Of Art.  I used the new "Glory" Authentic paper line as well as some really old lil Davis chipboard.  I also used the October Sketch from Mothers of Boys here.

Sketch #146 Reveal!

We went to Knott's Berry Farm with Ryan, Darleen and the grandkids.  There is this truck ride called Rocky Road Trucking Company.  The adults can ride in the back and the kids drive the truck in the front.  They have these really annoying honking horns that the kids just love to honk.  UGH!!  The grandma, she didn't enjoy the horns so much, but the joy on the kids faces made it all worth while!

I used sketch number 146 as my inspiration at Let's Capture These Sketches.  Come play along, I would love to see what you create!

Sketch #144

Check out this picture of Anthony and Mandre Jr!  Jillian took it one day at Disneyland while they were waiting in line for Star Tours.  It was the perfect photo for this week's sketch at Let's Capture these Sketches!

Let's Capture These Sketches - #142

I love this picture of Michelle and Anthony.  We were down in San Diego, hanging with Gino and Bree, and we went to this pumpkin patch.  You know Anthony does not like to have his picture taken but this one is sooo cute!

So this layout was inspired by this week's sketch at Let's Capture These Sketches.
Come play along and link your layout here!

Mandre as Captain America page 2

So I decided that I needed to add more pictures to this event.  We needed to see Mandre's cute face underneath the mask!  I used the sketch provided at Artful Delight as my base inspiration.

Table-runner for Frannie

Last month I participated in the Quilt Run here in Southern California.  One of the stores had this really cute fabric all ready to become a table-runner and I thought it would make a great addition to Frannie's home.  It arrived yesterday and she loved it!  (Shh - don't tell her but it was super easy. I used a method called the 10 minute table-runner- Google it for yourself)

Mandre As Captain America

Mandre was Captain America this past year for Halloween.  Check out that stance!  Isn't he the cutest!!  And I found this Captain America paper and stickers and it made the perfect accents to my layout!  I also used a Cuttlebug folder to emboss stars on the red cardstock and I embossed dots on the little pendents at the top of the page.

I found this new site - Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits and they have sketch challenges throughout the month.  This layout was based on their July 6th Sketch.

Sketch 140 - Let's Capture These Sketches

Cousins - Together Again.  David recently got married and Gino was there supporting him.  I snapped this photo as they were waiting for the official photographer to get to the boys.  I love this photo of the two of them - Together Again!
And this is the sketch I used at Let's Capture These Sketches - Sketch 140.   I used the Lost & found Two Breeze Everywhere paper line along with some Prima chipboard letters and little LillyBee letters.  If you noticed the monochromatic -ness of the layout, it was for the My Minds Eye July challenge.  I love the way it came out!

Just Colorin'

Doesn't Mandre just have the most amazing eyes!  I shot this picture of him Just Coloring back in February and used the current sketch up at the Basic Grey site to scrapbook these pictures.  The paper line I used is the Oliva line.

Those Palm Trees

I have hated these palm trees for the longest time.  Oh I liked them when we first put them in. (Palm trees on left side of the yard).
(Trees on the right side of the yard) I don't know how many times I told Patrick that I wish he would yank those palm trees out.  Mandre was over for Mother's Day last month and I was mentioning how much I hated those palms.  He said I might like them if we had them trimmed up.  (Deja vu - Frannie, didn't you say on more than one occasion that I needed to trim those trees?)  Well today I had enough (after filling yet another round of holes the pups dug) and placed a call to have someone come out and give us an estimate.
I also had them give an estimate to top off and shape the cypress trees out front (as well as the small trees I had planted along the side of the house that out grew the space).  Having someone else do this was so worth the price.  Not only did Freddy (Freddy's Quality Tree Care (714-630-1578) come with a crew of 4, they did a fantastic job of cleaning up all those palm fronds and carting them off!
Here are the trees on the left now.
 The trees on the right.
And the trimmed up cypress trees.  I think I have gained an additional 6 feet in the back yard.  Now to get some fill dirt and grass seed.  Sounds like a project for another day.

What a cute photo from Halloweens past.  Arianna as adorably cute bumble bee back in 2009!  I originally did this layout for a Basic Grey sketch challenge, and then when I went to upload it, um, I forgot to use Basic Grey papers!!  Oh well, the layout is still uber cute!!

Sketch #135

The reveal is up for Sketch #135 over at Let's Capture These Sketches and here is my take.  That is lil Mandre (how much longer will I be able to get away with calling him that?) on King Triton's Carousel at Disney's California Adventure.
And here is the sketch I used.  Be sure to link up your creation here, we would love to see what you do with the sketch.

Let's Capture These Sketches - #133

This is my take on Sketch 133 at Let's Capture These Sketches.  The pictures were of Gino and Arianna down at Miramar.  Gino was showing Arianna the F18 where he works.  Looks like they are both ready for flight!
Here is the sketch I used.  I would love to see what you create using the sketch.  Upload your creation here.

Solar Eclipse

Sad to say that I am just getting around to uploading pictures from my camera.  Last weekend we had the opportunity to view the solar eclipse.  I asked Patrick to take me down to Huntington Beach so we could view the eclipse and perhaps get some shots.  As we got closer, the marine layer was rolling in.  The marine layer was actually a blessing in disguise as it allowed us to actually view the eclipse without special glasses and I was able to get this great shot!

Bleeding Heart Flower

The spring plantings are coming along and I wanted to share a picture of one of my new flowers.  This is called the Bleeding Heart flower.  Isn't it unique!  I can't wait for the entire plant to be full of flowers.

St. Patrick's Day - 2012

This past St. Patrick's Day I told Patrick I wanted a shot of Jameson!  If you know me, I am not a drink - but rather a talker.  We met up with Gino and Bree at Bubba Gump's and I had a shot of Jameson.  After all, what is St. Patrick's Day without Irish Whiskey?  (I don't need to do that next St. Patrick's Day!)

I used the sketch at PageMaps for this layout.

Let's Capture These Sketches - Sketch 131

It is time again for this weeks sketch revel at Let's Capture These Sketches.  This time it is Sketch 131.  I raided the scrap bin here and it seems to have pulled together nicely.  The picture is a little blurry as it is a snapshot of the preview screen at Disneyland's California Adventure - Tower of Terror ride.  Amara is big enough now to ride, and she loves it, but she still seems terrorized!!

And here is the sketch.  I would love to see what you do with it.  And be sure to upload it back at Let's Capture These Sketches for a chance to win a prize.

Let's Capture These Sketches - Sketch #129

Awe, memories. Sarge (aka L.B.) once chewed through the back door a day before we were to go on a weekend getaway. We were left scrambling to have a new metal door installed before the trip! I used the Basic Grey Max and Wiskers line of paper.

I based this layout on Sketch #129 at Let's Capture These Sketches. Come play along for a chance to win a prize!

Birthday Layout

While this is a new layout, the pictures are over two years old. They were taken in 2010. That was the year I made my dad a panda rag quilt. And of course there was homemaid coconut cake! For this layout I used the Echo Park This and That line.

Ready to Fly

How exciting was it for Mandre when Uncle Gino took him up to see inside the F18 jet. He even got to wear head gear just like Uncle Gino! I used MAMBI papers and the La La Land Luka Pilot stamp!

Let's Capture These Sketches - Sketch 127

We spent Christmas with Donald Duck! We actually caught Donald in a great mood. If you have seen the cartoons with Donald, he can sometimes be in a foul mood. Here is sketch 127 that I used for my inspiration. Come play along at Let's Capture These Sketches for a chance to win!

Let's Capture These Sketches - Sketch 125

It is time for another sketch at Let's Capture These Sketches, presenting - Sketch 125!
And here is my take on the sketch. The pictures are from our last cruise on the Allure of the Seas. There were lots of charchters on this cruise! This day we met up with King Julien!!

Sunday, March 18, 2012

What a fun day this was back in January 2010. We had gone to the Great Park in Irvine to go ice skating as they had a special display set up. We didn't get in as there were many more people in front of us. So before we left, the kids ran around. I told Mandre to go splash in the puddles. I don't think he could believe what I was telling him, and away he went!
(Edited to add: a few people have asked where I picked up that cute stamp. It is from Crafters Companion, you can see all their lovely stamps here.)
