Sneak Peak of the Upcoming Urban Anthology Kit

Kari has posted a sneak peak of the March Urban Anthology kit. This kit is packed full of the newest products released at the Winter CHA show! Not only that, she went up the LA Garment District in search of unique trims and embellishments for this and upcoming kits! Can you see some of the new Jenni Bowlin, Prima, and Cosmo Cricket in there? I love the soft warm colors they picked this month.

They also have exclusive journaling blocks this month from from My Creative Mess etsy store.

Mandre's Quilt

Here is a picture of the dog quilt I made for baby Mandre. This is the 1st quilt I made using this pattern. The picture of the bear quilt I made for Rylee was the 2nd one. The quilts are quite big, they measure 50" wide and 56" tall. I have learned from the 1st quilt and even more from the 2nd quilt. For instance, Mandre's quilt didn't have any eyes or a nose until last night when I hand sewed them on. With Rylee's quilt I learned to sew them on while working on the head (the pattern said to do it at the end). My hope is these will be blankets the kids will want to cuddle with and in this way they can have grandma's arms around them.

I am loving this technique of using the flannel fabrics, sewing them with the edges showing so that the edges fray up. I am currently cutting out one more bear to work on, then I have a different pattern in mind. Stay tuned.

Taking Chance

If you have HBO, take the time to watch Taking Chance. It is a very moving movie about a young Marine who died in battle in Iraq and the steps involved in bringing his body home. I think I cried through the entire movie (but that is just me being the mom of a young Marine far from home). The movie may not effect you in the same way that it did me, but it is still a very moving movie and very well photographed. You can check out a trailer here - http://www.hbo.com/films/takingchance/

A huge THANK YOU to all the members of our Military for all that you do and all that you give up so that we can live free. Thank you to all the people who make sure that honor and respect is given to those who have fallen in service to our country.

Not just another Friday

Friday was a typical day, but what an ending! Patrick and I went to work as usual. Then, as it was Friday, we went bowling. Pat bowled pretty darn good, me not so good – just kind of average. As our usually habit, we went out to dinner after bowling. This Friday we went to Mama Cozza’s (one of Patrick’s favorites). Patrick ordered his pizza, italian sausage, meat ball, garlic, onion, basil and tomato. It is what he gets every time we go there. I got the linguine and mushroom sauce. They have the best minestrone soup there that comes with the dinner. Not that this evening was any different than any of the other Friday evenings, it was just special. We talked about some stuff currently going on in our life’s and the course it will take, but mostly we laughed. It is an evening that will stand out in my mind for sometime to come.

My Poor Anthony

He had all of his wisdom teeth out today. The dentist was in his mouth for over an hour pulling and pulling. He had a real problem with the bottom right hand side.

I guess there is nothing like a mother's touch when you are ill as he actually wanted me around all day today.

Get well soon son.

Quilt for Rylee

This is a picture of the quilt I made for Rylee, my granddaughter. Her mom told me that she would like purple. Grandpa Pat helped me pick out the fabrics.
And here is Miss Rylee on her new quilt. She has been sick the last few days, so I was hopping the quilt would keep her warm and snuggly.

Happy President's Day

I had the day off from work for President's Day and it rained for most of the day. I spent the whole day in my room upstairs enjoying the rain, watching tv, listening to an audio book, working on a quilt and this simple layout.

Vallentine's Day Wishes

I hope everyone has a Happy Valentines Day!! (Oh and I will only be receiving one Valentine)

Scrapbook Expo

I had a good time at the Costa Mesa Expo today. I hooked up with my best friend Heather and we walked around the show floor (I love that girl and just don't get to see her enough). I saw so people that I knew and many more that I reconconized. I also ran into Sherry from Australia!! This picture shows my haul. I got 4 sheets of vinyl and 2 sheets of the transfer tape. Man those sheets were huge. they are 12 x 36 and can be cut with my electronic cutter. Stay tuned to see what I make with those!! I also picked up a Cuttlebug Heart set and the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I had had my eye on those for a while. I picked up some bling and some fancy lazer cutouts. I also spotted the Color Box Chestnut Roan that my friend Eva turned me on to. Just this past week, I threw out my last one as the pad came off the holder. I like this color so much, I picked up two so that I have a spare!!

I also picked up a kit to make these really cool necklace and bracelets - but shhh - they are going to be a surprise!!

Valentines Cuties

Check out these two cuties ready to do some Valentine's Day cooking! I made my girls aprons for Valentine's Day. Darlene sent me pictures of them wearing the aprons!!

Heart Flutter

Here is a layout I did for a challenge over at the Scrapbook Nook. They are having a Virtual Crop this weekend with all sorts of scrapbooking challenges. If you drop by, and sign in, tell them you heard about the crop (in a round about way) from Ching.

The pictures in the layout were taken by Ching on New Years Eve at Disneyland. I must say, I love this man!!

Fart Bag

This is the other layout I completed today. The look of that layout is really soft and then I titled it with such a harsh title. Oh my but we did laugh that day!!

I think I maybe on a roll - two layouts in one day!!

Love in Bloom

This is a layout I did of my niece and her new husband on their wedding day. I love how it came out. I used the Urban Anthology December kit for this layout.
